Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious condition where breathing repeatedly stops during sleep, often accompanied by loud snoring and gasping for air. This disruption leads to lower oxygen levels, poor sleep quality, and long-term health risks such as daytime drowsiness, forgetfulness, and mood changes.

Many people experience sleep apnea without even realizing it. If you often snore or struggle with sleep quality, a dentist can help determine if further testing is needed to assess the severity of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Diagnosis may involve a sleep test to confirm the condition and guide the right treatment approach.
At our dental clinic, we offer a custom Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)—a specialized device that gently moves your jaw forward to keep your airway open while you sleep, helping you breathe easier and rest better.
Once fitted, follow-up appointments ensure proper adjustments for maximum effectiveness. Consistently wearing the device and attending regular check-ups will help you achieve the best results.

Poor sleep quality and daytime tiredness - increasing the risk of accidents including driving accidents.
Snoring and sleep apnoea are linked to high blood pressure, and a higher risk of heart attack and stroke.
Snoring can disturb your partner’s sleep, leading to frustration, separate bedrooms, and relationship strain
Poor sleep quality is linked to anxiety, depression, and mood swings.
Snoring and sleep apnea are associated with weight gain and difficulty losing weight due to hormonal imbalances caused by poor sleep.
Untreated snoring can cause inflammation and swelling in the throat, making breathing worse over time.
• Lifestyle changes (weight loss, avoiding alcohol before bed, side sleeping)
• Mandibular advancement devices (MADs) to keep the airway open

Ignoring snoring today could mean bigger health problems tomorrow. Treating it improves your sleep, health, and overall quality of life!
During the consultation process, she would take a thorough and extensive sleep history including what time patients go to bed any particular sleep habits as well as going through some screening questionnaires to assess the risk of obstructive sleep apnoea. A consultation costs £
We will email these to you before your consultation appointment and encourage you to complete them with your family members.
She will also conduct an introral examination; looking inside the mouth to look for any physical signs of snoring an obstructive sleep apnoea she will then discuss all her findings with you.
We do encourage you to have a home sleep test to get a general overview of your sleep. After, we have the results of the home sleep test we will give you our treatment recommendations and Dr Charlotte will show you the devices that we can make for you here at our practice. These devices cover your top and bottom teeth and encourage your bottom jaw to be in a forward position to open up your airway.
A Home sleep test is delivered to your door and is carried out usually over three nights. It is a small piece of kit, similar to an adhesive button, which is placed above your collarbone, and a small bracelet and then you go to sleep as normal. The data is collected overnight through a sensor and transmitted to an app from which Dr Charlotte will be able to see the results.
All our sleep tests is are discussed with a Sleep Doctor to assess your sleep quality, your snoring, and any periods where you may stop breathing for example overnight. Together we will come up with a bespoke treatment plan together.
If during the consultation Dr Charlotte thinks you need further investigations she may refer you to a specialist sleep team for a consultation.
Dr. Charlotte has built up an extensive network in comprising of ENT doctors respiratory doctors, my functional therapists, sleep physicians, physiotherapists psychiatrists, and general medical practitioners. She will provide you with a bespoke treatment plan regardless of your needs to enable you to get the best quality night's sleep.
These devices start from £1500 and a home sleep test start from £400 the cost of the device includes the consultation the fitting of the device and all the reviews necessary for the first year.
We advise that the device is reviewed once a year to ensure optimum fit and there will be a small charge for this.
We ask that patients complete the Epworth sleepiness scale and STOP-BANG questionnaire, which will be emailed to you prior to their appointment so that Dr Charlotte can discuss the results with you. We encourage you to complete this with your family members.
We ask if you if you are not a patient of our practice that you have had a dental check-up in the last six months. If you would like to book a check-up AND a sleep consultation this can be arranged.
All your dental treatment needs to be completed BEFORE the device is made, the device is customized the fit of your mouth and to ensure its longevity we need all dental treatments to be completed and a healthy oral environment to ensure it lasts for a long time. If you have any new dental work completed after the device is constructed you may need a new device.
Depending on the device they are guaranteed for between two and three years. This does not include theft, loss, breakage from not following instructions, or a replacement due to dental treatment.
You are more than welcome to have a consultation with Dr Charlotte and if you were to decide to proceed with treatment on the NHS she can contact with your GP (with your permission) and share her thoughts and findings from the consultation.
Whilst the NHS MAY provide a sleep test (if necessary) and may make recommendations for a mandibular advancement device (if appropriate) the waiting list can be up to 2.5 years. Some hospitals will not provide a bespoke mandibular advancement device but rather encourage you to purchase one online which is not as effective OR fit as well and only one type of device is offered. Dr Charlotte works with many different types of devices to ensure the best option for you.
